The Alpine Gardeners of Central Vancouver Island have a fascinating guest speaker coming up at the end of March, presenting a show on alpine wildflowers.
David Sellars will be speaking on ‘The Alpine Garden of the Cantabrian Mountains’ as well as ‘Where to Find Alpine Flowers in the Olympic Mountains.’ The presentation on Monday March 30 starts at 1 p.m at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park in Washington state is well known for spectacular alpine blooms, so it will be very interesting to see other areas in the Olympics, and how those flowers compare to the Cantabrian Mountains in Spain, as well as to our own alpine meadows in Strathcona Park.
Last summer the Alpine Gardeners hosted Cliff Booker from the UK with a beautiful slide show on the alpine wildflowers of the Dolomites in Italy. The David Sellars event sounds like it is also a ‘must-see’!
