Cloudy Search

With cloudy weather at high elevations, there has unfortunately been the first incident this season of hikers getting lost on Mt. Albert Edward. Comox Valley Ground Search & Rescue were called when the hikers lost their way as the weather closed in.

This incident is an important reminder, that if you are heading out into the backcountry, take Map & Compass and/or GPS and know how to use them. The weather can change at any time, and when the cloud comes down, it is very easy to get disoriented in the white-out conditions.

Please hike responsibly, do not go beyond your abilities, & stay safe! Activating Search & Rescue is a major undertaking in terms of manpower & resources – many thanks to CVGSAR for all their efforts.
