A beautiful sunny day today at Paradise Meadows revealed the snow level on the mountains remains at about 1800m.

Hikers are still enjoying the weather though – a group of students headed out on a week-long trek, and visitors came from France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, and several provinces today.

There was frost overnight & the boardwalk can be slippery in the mornings.

The leaves are turning colours – the yellower ones are rhododendron, the red & purplish are blueberry & huckleberry.

Misty Meadows

Mist in the Meadows

Mist rises off the ponds as the sun warms up the meadows.

The highlight of the day was several flocks of Sandhill Cranes migrating overhead – perhaps a hundred in total.

  1. More beautiful shots. Love the “Frosty Leaves” picture. I wish I had a job that had the perks of yours!!

  2. Thanks Dianne, all the staffers at the Wilderness Centre are volunteers – we are always looking for more help, if you live in the Comox Valley!
