Heat Wave

The entire Comox Valley is in the midst of a heat wave , with temperatures up to 30 Celsius, and Paradise Meadows in Strathcona Park is also experiencing hot & sunny conditions – quite a change from a week ago!
Pink flowers in the meadows are mostly finished, with white flowers now prominent – including white rhododendron, white bog-orchid, sticky false asphodel, narrow-leaved cotton-grass, buckbean, and partridgefoot.
A Rufous Hummingbird buzzed visitors at the Centre. Lots of hikers are headed up Mt Albert Edward but there should still be lots of space at the campsites. Recent visitors have come from Israel, Holland, the UK, many countries in Europe and several states & provinces.
