No Snow Year

There has been very little snow at the high elevations in Strathcona Park this year – most of the abundant precipitation over the winter fell as rain, and the next stretch of weather is forecast to be sunny & above zero. Mt Washington Alpine Resort has had to suspend its operations, with bare ground on the ski slopes – the snow base is only 34cm! Snow remains above approx. 1600m – for example on the slopes of Mt Albert Edward.

There could still be significant snow in March, so the summer season can’t quite be predicted as yet. It will be interesting to see how the lack of snow affects the spring blooming times in Paradise Meadows!
