It was a fitting finale to the 2013 season at the Strathcona Park Wilderness Centre yesterday, with beautiful fall weather attracting a couple hundred visitors to walk & hike in Paradise Meadows & beyond. Many visitors that stopped in to the Centre said they were new to the Comox Valley, just visiting Strathcona Park for the first time! No doubt there will be many great seasons of exploring the Park ahead for those folks.
Also to end the season appropriately, a large group of hikers from the Comox District Mountaineering Club stopped in before heading out to hike & photograph around Croteau Lake. Several of the group are volunteer guides for SWI or staffers at the SPWC.
The Centre has now closed for the year, although some SWI activities continue – the volunteers appreciation social is this Fri. Oct. 18. By the way all items turned in to the SPWC Lost & Found that remain unclaimed will now be donated to a thrift store.
SPWC visitor stats will be compiled shortly – stay tuned for the report!
