The first programs at the Strathcona Park Wilderness Centre at Paradise Meadows begin this weekend, starting with an easy hike on Saturday July 6. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Wilderness Centre for a 4 hour Nature Hike to Battleship Lake & Lake Helen Mackenzie.
On Sunday July 7 at 10:30 am, explore the ‘Spring Flora & Fauna’ of Paradise Meadows on a Nature Walk with expert naturalist Jocie Ingram. SWI has installed many plant signs around the meadows to help identify the many sub-alpine flowers, and has produced a couple of brochures which will be handy for this program, including the Paradise Meadows Interpretive Nature Walk Guide.
SWI nature talks, walks & hikes continue through the summer – for the full schedule please check the program link above.
For all activities: dress for the weather, wear proper footwear, bring lunch or snacks, water, bug spray and sun protection. No pets please on SWI nature walks & hikes unless otherwise noted. SWI programs are free, although a donation of $5 –10 is appreciated to help with the Institute’s ongoing activities. All SWI programs start at the Wilderness Centre at Paradise Meadows.
