Marble Meadows is a less frequently visited part of Strathcona Park, but a fascinating place for geology & botany. Several posts recently on the Nature Student blog highlight this area. Geological information & maps are available online here.

After crossing Buttle Lake, hiking time with full backpacks to the 1480m level is about 5-1/2 to 6 hrs on a well-built trail. There is a pond with water access after about 2-1/2 hrs. BC Parks has just cleared much of the deadfall that was on the upper 1/3 of the trail. Once at the subalpine the terrain flattens & there are a few great backcountry camping locations. Beyond the first area of lakes are more limestone areas, lakes, waterfalls, and peaks to explore.
